Locking Up

Weird problem:
I have installed Windows Vista successfully on both mine and my partners computer. On my PC it works perfectly and without a doubt is the most stable OS i've used.
On
my partners however (Granted she's only using a Celeron 1.7ghz with 512mb of ram) it works quite quickly however freezes every 5 minutes without fail. It doesnt do it exactly on 5 minutes as it was my first thought it was an auto run program doing it and it doesnt do it at any obvious application, ie:It'll do it with i.e open, with nothing open at all, when running my computer or control panel.
Do you have any suggestions as to what it may be or as to a possible solution? I tried swapping video cards as i had a gut feeling that may be the problem however that didn't make a difference.
It was 100% stable running Windows XP.
Any help would be much appreciated!! Please email me back to numb@westnet.com.au
Cheers!

"On my PC it works perfectly and without a doubt is the most stable OS i've used" is an amazing statement! How long have you used it?
If you change video cards also make sure that a Vista driver is available. Make sure the BIOS is up to date. Disconnect all but essential external devices, especially usb.
